Welcome

Welcome to the website of St Christopher’s Cathedral and Awali Anglican Church, Bahrain. St Christopher’s Cathedral is in the heart of Manama, a haven of peace in the midst of a bustling city and Awali Church is ten miles south of Manama in the leafy green Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) compound. They are home to an international community drawn from all the continents of the world: a diverse mix of people of many nationalities, ages and backgrounds.

St Christopher’s Cathedral is an Anglican Church, part of the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf, but don’t imagine we are large, austere and unapproachable. We are the ‘Cathedral of the Gulf’ and home to the Bishop’s ‘cathedra’ (his seat), but like a parish church, we aim to welcome everyone, whether a visitor or a resident, whatever their religious background. We are always especially delighted to welcome those who are new to Bahrain and many from a variety of denominations find their home with us during their time here.

The Cathedral and Awali Church are living centres of worship, places of prayer (open during daylight hours), and home to communities which provide a variety of opportunities to grow in faith and deepen our life together.

I hope that this website will give you a taste of our life and activities and that you will be encouraged to visit.

The Very Reverend Dr. Richard Fermer (Dean)
