Ecumenical Conference of Charity

The Ecumenical Conference of Charity, which functions under the umbrella of St Christopher’s Cathedral, was formed in 1996 with a provisional steering committee made up of clergy and lay people from a variety of churches to respond to the needs of the poor and needy irrespective of race, background or creed. Programmes that have developed through this ministry have included provision of food for those in dire need, assistance with education costs for families in time of dire need, hospital visits to those who are sick and, according to need, assisting with medical aid, financial assistance to repatriate destitute migrant workers, prison visits, and the running of a charity shop to provide clothes for those in times of crisis such as a house or tenement fire.
